In what could be one of the most upsetting news stories of the year, Disney has announced that on Thursday, they will purchase the entirety of George Lucas’ Privately owned Lucasfilm LTD, including the print and video game divisions for $4.05 Billion.  Basically, I f George owns it, Disney will own it in a few days.

It was also announced that Star Wars: Episode 7 will be due out in 2015.

“For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next,” Lucas said in a statement. “It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers.” stated George Lucas.

This is a sad day in fandom history.  I really hope for the best, but without Lucas’ vision, I am not optimistic.  What are your thoughts?
