There Can Be Only one, Connor MacLeod Is Coming For The PS2!

Back on October 26th, 2000, North America tasted the future of gaming when the PS2 was launched.  It was a powerful beast, and I knew it would be around for a long time.  What I didn’t expect was that we would still see new games released six years after the next gen console was released. But that is just what is happening.

What may be the last officially licensed PS3 game, is really more of an expansion than an actual game, but Final fantasy XI: Adoulin no Makyou is scheduled to be released sometime in 2013.  Somehow, I feel a bit of comfort knowing that the last PS2 game is a Final Fantasy game, and and expansion to an already ten year old game.  I have to wonder though, is it really the last, or has he birth of the “Big Three Console Wars” created a Highlander-esque competition?

Obviously, The PS2 has remained popular due to the non Backwards compatibility of the PS3.  However, do you think that any other console will see the same love and attention when a next Gen is released…I have my doubts.

“So now it ends…”
