Many gamers are portrayed as young, immature, and lazy, although that is not entirely true. Many of us gamers are approaching middle age, have jobs and families to support. We yearn for the classics and look forward to the new releases that reminisce of the dreams we had for the games of the past. Who would have known that the graphics, music, and game play we desired would become a reality in such a short term future. Many times I feel like Marty McFly as I play a new game and see how advances it is compared to Duck hunt (what I consider one of the first FPS games).
Luckily, for “older” gamers like myself (no, i don’t have to use a cane just yet, but staying up all night playing a game is out of the question, this old man gets grumpy without his beauty sleep) there are still resources out there that believe we are an integral part of the gaming community.
2OLD2PLAY has announced that the Chicago LAN party is back this year, after a hiatus last year. Although last year was skipped, this year will arrive with a bang! Many new titles will be featured, including the coveted HAlo 4, Guild Wars 2, BorderLands 2, and others! Another great feature of this convention is that Lan Leaders are welcomed to attend and represent their clan in their favorite games such as Mindcraft, CoD, BF3, and GOW3! Clan leaders can also assist in creating tournaments and races into the schedule.
The convention will take place between November 9th through 11th at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago Illinois. A kickstarter project has been created to help fund the event, and make it bigger and better than it has in the past. the goal has been exceeded, however the more money raised, the better the event will be! If you are a clan leader on 2OLD2PLAY, you get free admission! That’s right, if you have a clan of 15 or more members. you can represent your clan free!
I am not sure if my schedule will allow me to attend, however for the older gamer, and members of any online clan, this is definitely an event you do not want to miss!
