Super Mario 64 Sequel: Star Road Mod

Super Mario 64 was released in Japan on June 23rd, 1996 and later in the U.S. The free roaming game play and 3D environment brought a new level of play to the series. The vast world was fun and exciting and mixed action and humor together seamlessly. A direct sequel was planned, and even announced by Shigeru Myamoto at the 1997 E3 convention. Sadly, the project was never completed. It seems as though Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy overpowered the sequel and it was forgotten.

Or was it…?

Recently, a group of Super Mario 64 Fanatics revealed their version of the sequel entitled Super Mario Star Road! After more than a year spent in development and Modification, Skelux has released the modded Sequel to the public . Although not a lot has been revealed about the actual storyline, the following features were found:

-Over 120 stars
-More than 30 nicely designed areas
-Nearly 50 catchy tunes
-Many new objects for Mario to interact with
-Well-polished gameplay
-Lots of goomba stomping
-Mario-style humor

Although this is not an officially licensed product,  you can download it for free Here.

There have been many Mario mods in the past, most modeled after the original Super Mario Bros. Super Mario Star road seems to be a pretty well designed Mod. What are your thoughts on Super Mario Star Road? Do you have a favorite modded game? What other games do you think should be modded?

Some have stated that Super Mario Sunshine is the real sequel to Super Mario 64. However it was confirmed in 2006 by Shigeru Miyamoto that the project was dismantled, and that parts of the concept had morphed into the Wii game Super Mario Galaxy. Pikmin took over the concept of controlling a large number of characters on screen.

I wonder if they know they can get sued they pants off if Nintendo founds out since Mario is a Copyright of Nintendo. It also looks really crappy even worse then the 64 version -_-

  3. I do believe all of the ideas you have offered to your post. They’re really convincing and can certainly work. Still, the posts are too brief for starters. Could you please extend them a little from next time? Thank you for the post.
